OBJECTIVE
To provide childcare for infants, toddlers and preschoolers in the Nursery at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Sundays and other occasions, so that children are provided a safe and loving environment.
NATURE AND SCOPE
The Nursery Attendant (NA) is a part-time, occasional worker, appointed by and accountable to the Rector. The Rector may from time-to-time delegate supervision of the NA to another staff member or to a church volunteer.
The NA is to be present from 8:30am-12:15pm on Sunday morning during worship, education, and fellowship. The NA, in consultation with the Rector, is also called upon to be present on other occasions, for instance, certain mid-week parish education or fellowship events.
The NA must provide an inviting, caring, and safe environment that inspires the trust of parents and a positive response of the children entrusted to the Nursery. The NA must be able to deal creatively and responsibly with emergencies, and to work collaboratively with parents, supervision, and church volunteers. Dependability in attendance is an essential job requirement.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Complete all Safe Church trainings as required by the Episcopal Church within 30 days of hire date
2. Provide Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance and Criminal Background Check
3. Practice the guidelines according to Safeguarding God’s Children
4. Welcome children and parents to the Nursery, and provide care for the period needed
5. Maintain tidiness in the Nursery, especially before children arrive, and after they leave
6. Communicate with supervision in a timely manner, so that substitute Nursery Attendant can be provided in case of unavoidable absences, Nursery supplies and equipment can be maintained, and pastoral issues of the children and their families may be dealt with adequately.

Detailed Job Description:
Christ Church is an Episcopal Church in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania with Weekly Services. The 8:00AM Eucharist is a Said Service. The 10:00AM Eucharist is a Full Service with Music, the Choir, and Livestreaming. The Services are held using the Rite 2 Worship from the Book of Common Prayer and predominate use of the 1982 Hymnal. The Church has some limited experience with other Hymnals and has room for growth in this area. The Church has the ability to pay for four (4) Section Leaders, and there are 3 current Staff Singers. There are also 2 current Volunteer Singers who are Parishioners. For the Music Director, the Church offers a generous compensation Package. The Director would also receive 4 Sundays off per calendar year. This Position Reports to the current Interim Priest-in-Charge.
Job Skills, Qualifications, and Requirements:
Competent Organ/Keyboard skills for hymn Leadership, Rehearsal, and Accompaniment
Ability to efficiently and effectively lead Choir Rehearsal and teach singers music for services
Knowledge of the Episcopal Liturgy, Hymnody, and Church Calendar
Ability to relate to both Professional Singers and Church Members Requirements:
Weekly preparation of Music for Services appropriate to the Church Calendar/Lectionary
Monthly Meeting with Clergy around choices that best coordinate with Liturgy
Play the Organ and/or the Keyboard for Sunday Services and other Significant Services. (4 Sundays off per year but cannot be Palm Sunday or Easter Sunday)
Must have availability throughout the year, including the Summer when the Choir is not Present.
Must have availability for the following holy days: Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday,
Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter Sunday
Have first right of refusal for any and all Weddings or Funerals held at Christ Church
Lead Weekly Choir Rehearsals on Sundays after the Service for the following Week (The Choir meets only during the Program Year)
Supervise Choral Section Leaders and nurture relationships with Choir Singers
Maintain an organized and updated Choral Library of Hymnals and Sheet Music in the Music Office.
Contribute Articles to the Monthly Parish Newsletter regarding the history and changes of Seasonal Hymns
Communicate to Parish Administrator of Music Selections for Service Bulletins at least 1 Week in Advance
Respond in a Timely Manner to the Weekly Draft of the Bulletin Review
Be an active member of Christ Church Staff and attend all appropriate Meetings
Maintain the Organ with Planned Tunings
Maintain the digital piano and other relevant instruments for Christ Church
Expectations:
Work with Section Leaders and Choral Singers to reinvigorate music program with in-person worship
Help Create a Liturgical Experience which is Prayerful and Participatory
Rebuild Parishioners Choir Participation
Reconnect Church with Community via Musical Events
Potentially Partner with the Sunday School Program to involve more participation of Children/Youth in the Church
