OBJECTIVE

To provide childcare for infants, toddlers and preschoolers in the Nursery at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Sundays and other occasions, so that children are provided a safe and loving environment.

NATURE AND SCOPE

The Nursery Attendant (NA) is a part-time, occasional worker, appointed by and accountable to the Rector. The Rector may from time-to-time delegate supervision of the NA to another staff member or to a church volunteer.


The NA is to be present from 8:30am-12:15pm on Sunday morning during worship, education, and fellowship. The NA, in consultation with the Rector, is also called upon to be present on other occasions, for instance, certain mid-week parish education or fellowship events.


The NA must provide an inviting, caring, and safe environment that inspires the trust of parents and a positive response of the children entrusted to the Nursery. The NA must be able to deal creatively and responsibly with emergencies, and to work collaboratively with parents, supervision, and church volunteers. Dependability in attendance is an essential job requirement.


ACCOUNTABILITIES


1. Complete all Safe Church trainings as required by the Episcopal Church within 30 days of hire date


2. Provide Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance and Criminal Background Check


3. Practice the guidelines according to Safeguarding God’s Children


4. Welcome children and parents to the Nursery, and provide care for the period needed

5. Maintain tidiness in the Nursery, especially before children arrive, and after they leave

6. Communicate with supervision in a timely manner, so that substitute Nursery Attendant can be provided in case of unavoidable absences, Nursery supplies and equipment can be maintained, and pastoral issues of the children and their families may be dealt with adequately.

Christ Church is an Episcopal Church in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania with Weekly Services. The 8:00AM Eucharist is a Said Service. The 10:00AM Eucharist is a Full Service with Music, the Choir, and Livestreaming. The Services are held using the Rite 2 Worship from the Book of Common Prayer and predominate use of the 1982 Hymnal. The Church has some limited experience with other Hymnals and has room for growth in this area. The Church has the ability to pay for four (4) Section Leaders, and there are 3 current Staff Singers. There are also 2 current Volunteer Singers who are Parishioners. For the Music Director, the Church offers a generous compensation Package. The Director would also receive 4 Sundays off per calendar year. This Position Reports to the current Interim Priest-in-Charge.

Job Skills, Qualifications, and Requirements:
Competent Organ/Keyboard skills for hymn Leadership, Rehearsal, and Accompaniment
Ability to efficiently and effectively lead Choir Rehearsal and teach singers music for services
Knowledge of the Episcopal Liturgy, Hymnody, and Church Calendar
Ability to relate to both Professional Singers and Church Members Requirements:
Weekly preparation of Music for Services appropriate to the Church Calendar/Lectionary
Monthly Meeting with Clergy around choices that best coordinate with Liturgy

Maintain an organized and updated Choral Library of Hymnals and Sheet Music in the Music Office.

Respond in a Timely Manner to the Weekly Draft of the Bulletin Review

Job Summary: The Part-Time Facility Steward is responsible for managing janitorial and property maintenance tasks, ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of church buildings, and assisting with various property-related duties. Duties include deep cleaning, conducting minor repairs, unloading and shelving donated goods, adhering to organization policies, and contributing to a safe and well-maintained environment. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the condition, safety, and cleanliness of church buildings and grounds, creating a welcoming and functional environment for members and visitors. The Part-Time Facility Steward is expected to contribute to the organization's mission by ensuring that the campus is clean and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Deep Cleaning: Conduct deep cleaning tasks in program rooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, stairways, and sanctuary. This includes routine cleaning activities such as sweeping, floor mopping, dusting, and other duties as assigned by Sr. Warden

2. Grounds Maintenance: Weeding, painting, ensure exterior drains and walkways are free of debris. Setup and reconfiguration of tables and chairs in program rooms for various activities, and other tasks as assigned

3. Un/Loading of Supplies and Donations: Unload supplies and donations from visitors and volunteers upon their arrival and stock shelves appropriately. Load donated items into volunteer vehicle(s) for use during offsite ministry and events

4. Trash and Recycling: Monitor trash bins regularly, remove bags from trash receptables and properly dispose

5. Ice and Snow Removal: Spread salt/ice melt on exterior entrances and walkways, shovel walkways, liaise with snow removal contractor to admit entry during weather events. Weather related tasks may involve reporting to campus outside of regularly scheduled days and times

6. Policy Enforcement: Represent and enforce organization policies and procedures at all times

7. Compliance and Performance: Employee is expected to be punctual and follow all church policies, including those related to safety and security and the prevention of communicable disease

Essential Job Requirements:

• Education: High School Diploma or combination of education and relevant experience

• Relevant Experience: Prior experience in custodial, facilities management, or general contracting

• Required Job Skills: Detail oriented, cleans facility in a consistently thorough manner, ability to address minor facility maintenance and repair issues, ability to work independently without little direction, good time management skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks and activities as needed

Summary

The duty of the Parish Administrator is to assist the Rector and other staff in the administration of parish worship and activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Parish Administrator will meet at least weekly with the Rector to prioritize tasks, which include:

-Preparing weekly, seasonal, and special occasion bulletins

-Scheduling parish events and maintaining the church calendar

-Scheduling and sending reminders to lay ministers

-Answering the mail and telephones

-Maintaining and updating the church’s website

-Populating the church’s social media accounts each week as able

-Coordinate newsletters and other parish mailings

-Creating and completing various letters, mailings, reports and other information for the Rector, and other parish groups

Compensation

The salary for this position is $225 per week to be paid bi-weekly. The Parish Administrator may not volunteer his or her time to the parish.

Two weeks (8 regular work days) paid time off per year will be a benefit of this position. No paid time-off will be allowed during the first six months of employment.

There are no additional benefits for this position.

Review and Oversight

The Parish Administrator serves at the discretion of the Rector.

There will be an initial 90-day trial period. During this time performance deficiencies which remain uncorrected may result in the Parish Administrator being released without prior notification. At the end of the 90 day trial period an evaluation will be given.

Thereafter, evaluations will take place each January and July. The instruments of evaluation for this position include this letter, regular meetings with the Rector, and formal reviews twice per year with the Rector. The Rector and Parish Administrator agree to regular discussion: to establish and monitor goals; to isolate areas of conflict or disappointment as well as praise and success; and to clarify the expectations of all parties.

After the trial period at least two weeks notice will be given before dismissal—except in the case of “major infractions” which are cause for immediate dismissal. Two weeks notice is also expected upon resignation.

Parish Administrator Position (part-time) - Church of the Good Shepherd, Rosemont

The Church of the Good Shepherd, Rosemont, seeks a part-time (28 hours a week) Parish Administrator. Good Shepherd, Rosemont, is a small but growing Episcopal parish in the progressive Anglo-Catholic tradition in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, on the Main Line just outside of Philadelphia. Easily accessible to Center City Philadelphia by train, the Church of the Good Shepherd is well poised for continued growth for the sake of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Good Shepherd, Rosemont, opened a new retreat house (The Rosemont Community Retreat House) in September of 2022, which is an important outreach ministry that is integrally connected with the parish administrator position.

Qualities Desired in a New Parish Administrator
We are looking for someone skilled in administration, preferably with experience working in churches and in ministry. We hope to hire someone who enjoys working with others and is attracted to the varied nature of a position that includes everything from property management to hospitality for our budding retreat house ministry. The ideal candidate would be someone who views church administration as a vital aspect of supporting the spread of the Gospel in this particular parish. While onsite presence is important during the week, we are also more than willing to offer some flexibility with remote work, as well as with work hours.

Position Responsibilities

General Administration (35% of time)
● Managing and organizing parish records
● Overseeing IT systems
● Keeping the parish database (Realm) up-to-date and organized
● Reviewing and printing weekly service leaflets (which are produced by the rector)
● Updating parish prayer lists and printed materials for display in the church
● Handling and organizing contract and agreements with renters and outside parties
● Assisting in gathering relevant information for the preparation of the annual budget
● Ordering supplies for onsite printer and ensuring that it is maintained
● Processing bills and correspondence and providing necessary information to the Financial Administrator
● Organizing and updating the shared Google Drive

Property Management (35% of time)
● Preparing agendas for and participating in monthly meetings of the Buildings and Grounds Committee

Retreat House Hospitality (15% of time)
● Managing the online ThinkReservations booking system
● Scheduling linen pickup by church volunteers after retreats
● Organizing volunteers for food and hospitality needs
● Ensuring that rooms are stocked with clean linens and that bed sheets are changed

Communications (15% of time)
● Preparing and sending weekly parish email on Fridays
● Updating parish website in conjunction with other staff
● Making regular Facebook posts according to devised communications plan
● Advertising parish events with the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania, The Patch, and on Eventbrite
● Producing the annual parish report, with the assistance of staff and volunteers
